During the month of May, Minga’s PSA Campaign has the opportunity to win a $25,000 from Pepsi and we need your help! As a Minga Club you are a vital part of our organization. With your supportive action, we can build Minga to a national movement of empowered youth.
Minga launched its PSA Campaign this year as a way to share our message with 2 million young people, to engage corporate and non-profit partners in our cause, and to amplify the voices of teens who care about ending the child sex trade. We are working to produce a series of PSAs that feature celebrity advocates who believe in our mission and distribute them to youth online and offline. We hope youth will see our PSAs and be inspired to take action in their communities by uploading their own film clips to our website to raise awareness about the child sex trade.
To cover the costs of film production, editing and distribution, Minga needs to garner financial support from contests like the Pepsi Refresh Project. Here’s where you come in. Get as many of your club members, family members and friends as possible to go to www.refresheverything.com and create a Pepsi account. Then either get them to commit to daily voting for ask them to send you their account information so you can vote for them. Make sure they know that creating an account takes about two minutes, and daily voting takes just seconds. It’s a quick and simple process, but it means BIG money to us.
You showed you care by becoming a Minga Club, now you can take action to help Minga be even better. Let’s encourage more teens to take action too. Let’s build a movement.
Thanks for your hard work!

Hold a "Don't Pimp My Ride" Car Wash
Help Minga tell teens that pimpin' is not cool while you enjoy the summer weather. Media messaging often glamorizes prostitution, telling young people that they should see themselves as sexual objects. To prevent teens from becoming involved in the trade, Minga needs to teach them about the realities of child prostitution.
Get your friends together and help Minga raise awareness and funds. Hold a car wash in your community and educate everyone who comes about the realities of the child sex trade. You can educate yourself here.
Use the fliers below to promote your car wash and be sure to invite all of your Facebook and Twitter friends to stop by too. Be sure to make big posters that make your car wash and Minga's message hard to miss. Submit pictures and a brief description of your event to Minga's RealInteraction Competition and you could win $500 to take an even bigger action. For "Don't Pimp My Ride" bumper stickers to give out at your event email Rebecca@mingagroup.org.
To see an example of how media contributes to glamorizing how teens think of pimpin' watch the 50 Cent PIMP music video. Let us know your thoughts on Facebook.
